The Northcoast Marine Mammal Center rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured marine mammals so they can be released back into the wild. Our mission is to educate the public about the impact humans have on marine mammals and the importance of preserving the oceans where they live.
In an average year, the Northcoast Marine Mammal Center rescues between 30 and 60 marine mammals and has rescued almost 1,200 animals since it began in 1988. All the rescue, medical care and rehabilitation is done by an entirely volunteer team which includes the veterinary staff. The NMMC has only one paid, part-time staff member.
